Hmmm..

Well this week has certainly been interesting. The severe flood in Dublin made getting to college on tuesday very interesting. I was on the bus and it took me an hour and a half to get to college, it normally takes 20 minutes! I've never seen so much traffic before, I think the most interesting/scary part was when the bus had to drive through the flood water. I had this horrible fear that the water was going to come into the bus!
Anyway, I did two more prints this week. Which I hope to scan soon and upload.

Progress Report!

In the past two weeks I have processed my very first film, surprisingly it was pretty successful and there weren't even any little hiccups! Looking through the negatives, I'm quite pleased with how the photos have turned out.
I also printed my very first contact sheet and am very proud of it. I'm treating it as if it were my first child!!
Last week I did my very first print as well. It turned out pretty well considering that about 3 weeks ago I had no idea how to do anything involving film.
Hopefully I'll be posting a scan of the print in the next few days.

I recently did my friend's debs photos!

Here is a selection of some of the photos:
The typical corsage shot.

My friend and her sister.

I really like this photo, I think it has a very classical 20's feeling or something.

Little bit of a close up!

I just like this one, it's a bit cheeky and I feel like it's almost making a joke from a photo of Aubrey Hepburn or something.

Green Day Marlay Park 2010

Thought I would use a few of the photos I took during Green Day's concert in Marlay Park last year to be the first of my photo posts.

Sadly, I only had a compact camera with me as I didn't want to break my dslr when I was in the crowd.

First post ever.

I thought my first post should be a little bit of an introduction. I'm Erica, I'm 19 and from Dublin. I'm studying photographic media at the moment. I usually shoot on a Fujifilm digital camera but since starting my college course I've had to go back to basics and start using an analogue camera. It was pretty hard at first because I'm so used to the lovely auto settings of a digital camera so I'm a complete novice when it comes to film! I processed my very first film yesterday and it turned out better than I thought it would!
I love music photography, shooting at concerts is my favourite thing to do. In a ideal world I would be a photographer for a music magazine. I love nature photography because I like having the ability to turn something mundane and ordinary into something beautiful and extra-ordinary. I don't have that much experience of shooting people and portraits but I like to give it a go whenever I get the chance.
I usually prefer black and white photography because I feel it's more dramatic and intense. I like to use photoshop to make my photos a little bit more dramatic. I usually only do little touch-ups as I don't like to tamper too much with the image and completely destroy the naturalness of the subject.
